What Haircare Routine is best for thinning hair and hair loss?

So many of us have a skincare routine....but our hair deserves a great Routine too. What we can control is how we wash, dry and style it for the healthiest shiniest hair.

Follow these rules to keep your strands in their happiest, healthiest state.

 1. Choose a SULFATE FREE Gentle shampoo

The most important step for thinning hair starts in the shower. Stay away from sulfates—detergents found in many shampoos—which can weaken hair follicles over time, making your hair susceptible to breakage and the appearance of thinning. ALFAPARF SEMI DI LINO scalp renew energizing shampoo 250ml

2.  Massage your scalp with a Tonic

Stimulation of the scalp using fingertips can result in improved blood circulation. Further, it also stimulates hair follicles and thus helps to improve hair growth.

This is one the crucial aspects of this Thinning Haircare Routine. Give your hair and scalp some me time & to get your moneys worth, take the time to massage a Tonic or Lotion into the scalp to increase circulation and stimulate hair growth....your scalp will thank you for it and after a few weeks you will see the results in your hair. Alfaparf Milano Semi Di Lino Scalp Renew Hair Loss Energizing Lotion (12*10ml). After washing hair with Energizing Low Shampoo, apply the contents of a vial to the scalp. Massage in with circular movements to help it absorb. Do not rinse off. For intensive treatment: use 4 vials a week for 3 weeks. Then: 2 vials a week for 5 weeks.

ALFAPARF Milano Semi Di Lino Scalp Renew Hair Loss Energizing TonicApply directly to the scalp with either damp or dry hair (morning or evening) and massage in to to help it absorb. Do not rinse off. • Energizing maintenance treatment: we recommend applying the tonic 4 times a week for at least 8 weeks. • To maintain optimal conditions for scalps with dandruff or excess sebum: we recommend applying the tonic 3 times a week for at least 4 weeks.

Don’t shampoo too often.

Avoid over-shampooing. Those of us with fine hair feel the need to wash every day because they feel greasy after one day. However, fine hair only needs to be shampooed two or three times per week. Over-washing can create too much oil production, which leads to flat and lifeless hair. The natural oils created with minimized shampooing add volume and manageability.

To manage excess oil on second-day hair, opt for a dry shampoo to mop up excess oil and create more volume. Remember to wash it out after using it one to three times in a row, or the buildup can irritate the scalp and dry out fine hairs, causing breakage. ALFAPARF MILANO Style Stories Texturizing Dry Shampoo

4. Use conditioner sparingly.

A moisturizing conditioner will help maintain the balance so that no extra oils that drag down hair are produced. Never apply conditioner to the scalp (only mids to ends) and avoid formulas with heavy molecules and additives. Unless your hair is really long a few drops of conditioner is more than enough.

5. Air-dry your hair 75 percent.

Take care to avoid stretching, pulling and breaking vulnerable wet hair.  Air-drying your hair until it is about 75 percent  being pulled. Blow drying upside down to add extra shape and volume at the roots. This will produce the perfect blown-out look while minimizing damage.

6. Limit heat styling.

Thinning hair is especially vulnerable to breakage and excess heat styling is generally not advised.

7. Brush your hair daily.

Brushing hair is a great way to stimulate the scalp and encourage growth.

When brushing, hold onto the hair closest to the scalp to gently detangle. Make sure to use a brush with soft or flexible bristles, like a natural boar bristle brush to help you brush through without applying too much stress.

9. Sleep with a silk pillowcase.

The glide of satin is less damaging because it reduces the friction that comes with a cotton pillowcase... less frizz...less flyaways and less breakage come morning.

10. Maintain regular haircuts and trims.

To make your hair the strongest—frequent trims around every six to eight weeks

11. Style your hair differently

A deep side part can give the illusion of fullness.

A jagged part makes the top layers stick up, giving the illusion of thicker hair.

Ask your hairstylist for lowlights or highlights. The depth of the low light and the accent of the highlight tricks the eye into seeing more hair than there actually is.

12. Check if your hair is fine or thinning.

If you’re frustrated with what you perceive as a lack of hair, the first step in reaching your hair goals is knowing the hand you were dealt. That starts with understanding the difference between fine and thinning hair. Having fine hair refers to the diameter of each individual strand, which should be thinner than a strand of thread. On the other hand, thinning hair refers to the density of your strands per square inch of your scalp, or in other words, how much hair you have on your head.

Interestingly, certain dandruff shampoos can also help manage hormone-associated hair loss. Add one into your routine twice a week, and lather it in for two minutes before rinsing.

  • Iron: In premenopausal women, iron deficiency is a leading cause of hair loss.
  • Vitamin D: Low vitamin D can cause your hair to thin.
  • Zinc: Without enough zinc, the hair may break or fall out.
  • Selenium: Low selenium levels can cause hair loss but Armani says this is a relatively uncommon cause of thinning hair.
  • But don't freak out! Stressing about hair loss is a rabbit hole and will only work against you (trust me), so a levelheaded attitude is the best medication for a full head of hair. And before you stalk a specialist or dive into thinning hair remedies, keep in mind that hair loss is totally normal. In fact, we shed approximately 50 to 100 strands of hair each day.

Whether your problem is hair loss or hair thinning, there are some factors you should always keep in mind. With sensitive scalps, you're going to want to avoid alcohols, sulfates, parabens, dimethicone, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrances, and synthetic colors. And don't be like past me and make the mistake of avoiding shampoo to reduce hair loss. In fact, proper shampooing can help stimulate the scalp and unclog hair follicles of particles hindering hair growth.

But enough of that—since you're here for some actual product recommendations, see below for my favorite haircare products for thinning hair, hair loss, and even an option for both (because better to be safe than sorry, right?).

Disclaimer: As with any beauty product, it will take some time to see results, so plan to stick with your new regimen for at least a few weeks before making any decisions. If you're still not seeing results, or if your hair loss gets worse, book an appointment with a trichologist or dermatologist who might test you for more serious conditions like alopecia.
